I don’t know what it is about Spring this year, but I am absolutely on Cloud 9! Usually, I’d have to say the Fall is my favorite, but these past couple weeks have been so glorious. It’s difficult to describe since California is pretty damn gorgeous year-round. However, we had a gloomy cold & rainy spell for a bit. Then when the rain cleared and the clouds parted, it’s as if something inside me jumped out and made me feel really alive!
This past week, my family has been outdoors non-stop. I always love the cleanliness after a gloomy LA storm. Nothing can adequately describe how refreshing it feels after the rain clears here. Things have been crazy as ever (always the story of our lives)! My cooking & recipe posts have slowed this month, but that’s mainly because we are prepping for a massive party in our new home.
The weekend after Easter, I’m throwing a big birthday / housewarming party. It’s my husband’s 40th, so I thought it would be a great time to kill two birds and celebrate. Ever since we started expanding our family a few years ago, you know how it is…you see friends less and less. Less time to travel, less time to carve out weekends, less time to keep up with life.
We have so many amazing friends all around the LA area, but it’s crazy how quickly the years have flown by and we haven’t had a chance to visit with many as frequently as we would have liked. So this will be a nice opportunity to have a fun bash in our new pad.
Even more, we absolutely needed some deadline driven motivation to finish unpacking and cleaning our house. I can’t believe we’ve already been here over FOUR MONTHS! Since moving last Halloween, our life has been a series of shifting piles upon piles of boxes from one area to another. I seriously feel like I just blinked and a quarter of the year is gone.
Maybe it’s because at least one of us is inevitably under the weather, or I’m chasing both kids by myself (Jason was recently promoted and working absolutely INSANE hours as of late), or we’re constantly getting ready for the next big holiday or event that we never much time to breathe. However, aside wanting to see all our friends & family…this party is really what we needed to give us a firm deadline to get many long overdue projects completed!
With that, you’ll probably be seeing a little break from a ton of recipe posts until after the party…but I will keep you up to date with all the great DIY home decor, gardening, and other fun creative projects that I’m bouncing all around trying to complete in time. It has been unpack/purge/sell mode, many trips to the hardware store, DIY home decor projects, and gardening galore for a couple weeks…and the best is yet to come!
I absolutely adore our new home and I have to pinch myself every day since I still feel like I’m dreaming. I’m so excited to finally be getting started on getting truly unpacked and settled in!
