Oh my gosh, Santa Clarita & LA area friends…I’m so freakin’ excited to tell you about an oh-so-AMAZING local meal delivery service. I recently discovered Plate Therapy, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Sometimes when I have hectic weeks on-the-go (lately, more frequent than not), I totally crave delicious, gourmet meals without the hassle of eating out or cooking. (Watching Hell’s Kitchen and past episodes of The Taste certainly do not help these cravings.)
Don’t get me wrong…I absolutely love when we get a chance to eat out (so I guess I shouldn’t call it a “hassle”), but when you’re out at a restaurant with a toddler who can’t sit still and a feisty baby quickly learning to follow his lead, somewhere between appetizer and entrées, you shoot each other that look that screams, “we’ve made a huge mistake”.
Being the busy mom of two little ones (and wife to an even busier husband)…often I consider myself lucky to sneak a shower and a complete meal in my belly before 2pm.
While my home and family keep me quite busy, I treasure this time and wouldn’t change a thing. These precious early years are flying by and I know it won’t be long before I wish our kids were this little once again. Date nights and dinners out can wait until then; but for now, I’m not too proud to admit that sometimes I need a little help.
Enter…Plate Therapy. The best part? It’s a local start-up business here in Santa Clarita founded and run by awesome people in my community.
I’ve always been hesitant to try meal delivery services where the food is already cooked because I didn’t think the meals would stay fresh all week. However, here I am approaching lunchtime on Thursday…still devouring my Sunday delivery of delightful meals. With only one meal remaining, the only reason they aren’t going to last all week is that I can’t help myself from eating them non-stop. Oh, and they taste better than most meals I pick-up fresh or order out.
When I saw a local ad with their beautiful offerings, I knew I had to try it. As a Graphic & Web Designer, their sleek, modern, and gorgeous aesthetic pulled me right in. What can I say…I’m such a sucker for beautiful design. Well, my hunch paid off because now I’m hooked.
The service is extremely simple and unbelievably delicious:
- Browse their mouth-watering menu online and select which meals that you’d like to have delivered to your door. Order by 5pm Wednesday and you’ll receive your delivery Sunday.
- When they arrive at your door, you receive your delicious meals in a neatly packed, refrigerated bag.
- Heat it, eat it, LOVE it! You’re set for the week. (Or as long as you can resist sweet, sweet temptation.)
The people who make Plate Therapy run are simply amazing. Company founder, Danielle, texted me the day before my delivery to let me know about what time it would be arriving on Sunday. The friendly delivery team is extremely helpful and knowledgable – if you want, they’ll even pack everything in your fridge and answer any questions you have about the recipes. However, the easy instructions and all you need to know is included with your meals.
You don’t even need to be home for the delivery. My kids happened to be napping & our dogs were barking up a storm when they arrived, so they kindly left my bag of goodness at the front door…all fresh and waiting for me when I was ready. The insulated bag and ice packs keep your meals fresh at your door for 4 hours. Danielle was even so sweet to ask the day before if I needed extra ice packs (in case we’d be gone more than 4 hours). They really do think of everything.
My Favorite Meals
I’m only one delivery in, but I already have a lot of favorites. I can’t believe how fresh everything stays throughout the week.
Hands down, the Cajun-style Blackened Salmon was my favorite meal yet. I couldn’t get enough, and I was kicking myself for not ordering another. For breakfast, the Quiche meal & Sicilian Hash meal were both so damn good. As I’m sitting here typing up this post, I’m stuffing my face with the Diablo Turkey Burger with roasted sweet potato wedges…and it’s seriously rocking my world.
Order those selections while you can…Chef Thatch likes to rotate the menu choices on a monthly basis to create variation while incorporating seasonal ingredients. I’m looking forward to seeing the next round of menu items, but not before I re-order some of my favorites.
I love supporting local businesses any time I can, so when I discovered the motivating story behind Plate Therapy, that gave me even more reason to love what they do. An incredible wife & husband duo joined by Executive Chef, this team of folks provide a much needed (and very delicious) service in my local community. You can discover more and read all about the Plate Therapy team here on their site.
FREE Offer Promo Code – Try It Yourself!
If you’re in the Santa Clarita Valley, lucky you! Indulge in this convenient meal delivery service…like now. They also deliver to select cities in and around Los Angeles. Please contact Danielle@PlateTherapy.com to find out if they deliver to yours.
As an added bonus, enter promo code “hawkeye” at checkout (first order ONLY & $100 min. purchase), and you’ll receive a FREE order of Power Balls. I haven’t tried these yet, but I am definitely including them in my next order. (I have no idea how I missed this snack last time around.) They have cashews, cashew butter, dried banana, vanilla, coconut nectar, dried cherry, and shredded coconut…my kind of snack!
What You Should Know
- This service is the bomb. You should totally try it if they deliver to your city.
- Eat your fish and salad meals first (for optimum freshness).
- Keep your delivery bag & ice gel packs for them to swap out at your next delivery. If you aren’t planning to re-order again for awhile, contact them for pick-up.
- The minimum order is $100 + $15 delivery, and it is SO worth it! There is no way I could come even close to creating these delicious gourmet meals myself for what I paid. Seriously…even if I had all the time in the world to cook, I could not have realistically purchased all those individual ingredients and cooked from scratch the meals I ate for the same price. So for me it was not only a huge time saver, but a cost saver too.
